Traveling to the Bahamas? Beginning December 31st , 2006, passports will now be REQUIRED for an excursion to the Bahamas. Here are a few helpful steps to help expedite the process:
1. Have passport pictures taken at a local drugstore.
2. Go to the passport counter at the main post office in your area. Have your passport pictures along with your proof of citizenship (i.e. certified birth certificate and photo ID). The representative will guide you through the paperwork. Please note, passports generally take approximately 6 weeks to process and normally run under $100.00.
3. Be sure to make a copy of your passport when you travel. Put your copy in another place separate from your original passport. If you should lose it, your copy will make it easier to replace.

Call your credit card company if you don't normally charge outside of the United States. Let them know where you'll be traveling and for how long. This will eliminate any temporary holds on your funds for unusual spending patterns.
